HIST 300 Intro to Doing History & to Being an Historian

Curated for HIST 300, this virtual exhibit contains digitized versions of materials found in Special Collections.  These items are to help course students "read" primary sources and think about related secondary sources.

Materials in this virtual exhibit include primary sources spanning 1601/2 to 2020 on a variety of topics including American missionaries imprisoned by the Japanese in China, California as an island, the COVID-19 pandemic, English Privy Council correspondence, Frederick Douglass and civil rights, Japanese-Americans incarcerated in the United States, the Nicaragua Task Force (NTF), the Sanctuary Movement in the United States, Soviet Union propaganda, and the Spanish Civil War.

Formats include an artists' book, an audio recording, a book, manuscripts, maps, and printed ephemera.
